Default Saw Blood Diamond

I've had this long running understandable hatred for Leonardo DiCaprio ever since Titanic.

The Departed and Blood Diamond have shown me he can play a tough guy and pull it off. Color me dumbfounded by that too.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this movie.

Blood Diamond was great and Djimon Hounsou was awesome.

Great movie.

As big a pussy as DiCaprio is, I have to admit he's an excellent actor. He was great as Howard Hughes and incredible in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He can definitely act.

At what point will Leo have purged the sin of Titanic? What more does he have to do?

He must get into a car crash, marry and divorce some hot actress and do something where he is really ugly like Tom Cruise did in Born on the Fourth of July.

I hated the end of Blood Diamond as I thought that was hokey.

He could die, for starters.

He's a terrific actor, but Titanic is the unforgivable sin of movies.

See and what I don't get is the casting of someone like Orlando Bloom in Kingdom of Heaven. To me he's the wussiest of them all. The Ultimate pussy, no pun intended. That is the main reason why I refused to see that movie, because I can't picture him as the badass leader of a great army.

It would be like having Reese Witherspoon in the Ripley role for Alien, it just doesn't work.

Leo has made really good career choices post Titanic, which of course is what gave him the ability to pick and choose. So I guess the choice is whether to sell out early so you won't have to later.

As for Orlando Bloom. Didn't everyone just figure out how sissy he is through movies like Kingdom of Heaven. He did not seem like a sissy in a long blonde wig, to me at least, and how often can you say that about a male lead? The real question will be whether he keeps getting those types of rolse. My guess is that he won't.

I saw this last night. I thought Leonardo did ok. The black actor, his character annoyed me with his unrealistic attempts to get his son back.

I thought at the end, "this movie would have been a lot better had Russel Crowe played the Rhodesian."

I think there are very few male roles that wouldn't benefit from Russel Crowe playing them. There isn't anyone else out there with his edge and "gravitas" IMO. Hanks has his moments, but to me Crowe is this best of this era. (I put Anthony Hopkins and Robert Duvall who I consider at least as good in an earlier era).

My wife wanted to sell her diamond wedding ring after seeing that movie.
