Saw Blood Diamond
I've had this long running understandable hatred for Leonardo DiCaprio ever since Titanic.
The Departed and Blood Diamond have shown me he can play a tough guy and pull it off. Color me dumbfounded by that too. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this movie. Blood Diamond was great and Djimon Hounsou was awesome. Great movie.

At what point will Leo have purged the sin of Titanic? What more does he have to do?

I hated the end of Blood Diamond as I thought that was hokey.

He's a terrific actor, but Titanic is the unforgivable sin of movies.

It would be like having Reese Witherspoon in the Ripley role for Alien, it just doesn't work.

As for Orlando Bloom. Didn't everyone just figure out how sissy he is through movies like Kingdom of Heaven. He did not seem like a sissy in a long blonde wig, to me at least, and how often can you say that about a male lead? The real question will be whether he keeps getting those types of rolse. My guess is that he won't. |

I saw this last night. I thought Leonardo did ok. The black actor, his character annoyed me with his unrealistic attempts to get his son back.
I thought at the end, "this movie would have been a lot better had Russel Crowe played the Rhodesian." |

I think there are very few male roles that wouldn't benefit from Russel Crowe playing them. There isn't anyone else out there with his edge and "gravitas" IMO. Hanks has his moments, but to me Crowe is this best of this era. (I put Anthony Hopkins and Robert Duvall who I consider at least as good in an earlier era).
