Mormon Art
Our ward has been having the older primary children draw scenes from the scriptures for the weekly meeting program covers. To be honest, I have not been impressed. This one kid drew Noah's Ark and the animals were barely recognizable. I felt like asking him to point out the difference between the zebras and the horses.
Another kid decided to draw Moses parting the Red Sea. First of all, there was no dimension in the piece. Second of all, he didn't even show Pharoah's armies moving in. Hello?!? What's the urgency of parting the sea of there's no push from Pharoah. Anyways, I guess I'm just sick of the bad Mormon Art that I've been seeing lately. I don't know what they've been learning in primary, but it sure isn't drawing. I'm about to talk to the Primary leader and tell her that I'd rather see the Sunbeams scribble over photocopied color pages of Dora the Explorer than the rubbish the Senior Primary has been putting out. I'm thinking of withholding my planned Nursery donation of two 64 color boxes of crayons if I don't see some changes. |
