Default Has anybody here ever had a dream that was religious or prophetic?

I have not. I barely dream, and those dreams are not for a public site.

I wonder about dreams, and perhaps Mike can inform us of their significance. How much of dreams are simply manipulations of our subconscience?

Yes, I have. So has my wife.

Scriptural precendent tells us that this happens. Listening to those that surround me in the church also tells me that it happens.

My ex-wife had several that were uncanny - such as telling me she dreamed I got laid off - a week before I got laid off (very unexpectedly).

This happens to me all the time. With very specific details. Scares the hell out of me.

I have certainly wished some of my dreams were prophetic.

I have not. Several persons very close to me (and a couple not so close to me) have had very accurate descriptions of events and circumstances that either needed attention (and they did) or that had yet to occur and later did occur. I am skeptical by nature, but I have more than once been stunned by these types of occurrences.

Btw, I think having liberal amounts of skepticism tends to be contrary to the ability to have faith in anything, meaning that skeptical people are less likely to have these sorts of experiences. Sort of the opposite of MW's beleiving blood or of Lehi's self-description as a visionary man.

Our culture is full of the idea (or mythology) that there is a supernatural, mystical world, only available to those that choose to seek it.

That's why I liked the movie Pan's Labyrinth so much. It touches on these deep-seated belief.

Remember, faith is a gift. It is not a choice. Seek this gift.

I'd agree with this wholeheartedly. I know the polynesian side of my family including immediate family members have had some amazing experiences. The culture I think presents itself as one of faith so these things are more prevalent and accepted, as you would find in perhaps the Latin and South American cultures also.
