Default The new First Vision DVD

I went on a split with the missionaries last weekend. They played the new First Vision DVD for an investigator.

I noticed that the Satanic attack prior to the appearance of the Father and the Son have been wholly omitted.

Interesting.

There was this guy I knew in college who stopped investigating the church after he saw the then current first vision filmstrip/video (about 81 or 82) becasue he saw in Joseph Smith's encounter with Satan a bad mushroom encounter. He told me he had had exactly that sort of sequence of events (engulfing darkness and despair followed by a remarkable vision or ahllucination) several times while taking mushrooms.

For someone who has never heard the story of the First Vision, it's an unnecessary distraction.

To describe how dizzy I felt, I once said "I felt like the camera spinning in the First Vision."

I guess I won't be able to say that in the future.

I don't have a big problem with not including it.

When I taught discussions, I didn't talk about it. Just because the most pertinent thing was the appearance of God and Christ.
