Default I have a question

Why do people spend all of their time, money, energy and resources trying to prove the mormon religion wrong? It baffles my mind, that people have nothing better to do than prove someone elses beliefs wrong.

What this shows me is that these particular individuals are not confident enough in their own beliefs and want to prove the LDS religion wrong just so they feel better about their own sins.

Mormons are not bad people, i am not sure what they do that is so bad and what bothers so many people. Honestly we dont smoke, we dont drink, we dont do drugs, we believe in Jesus Christ, we believe in the atonement and the resurrection, we beautify and uplift the community, we help our neighbors, we donate unbelievable amounts of humanitarian aid. I am not sure why people need to spend the time knocking us down.

Does this happen with other religions? If so then i apologize for this post, but it seems to me that certain individuals get their jollies off of knocking the mormon religion down.

Simple: they love us and don't want us to burn in hell for eternity for following a false religion.

It's pretty simple. The Church claims to be the only true church upon the face of the earth and the only Church with a direct pipeline to God. You honestly don't see how that might piss off religious people who aren't mormon?

Who cares what they claim, you can choose to believe or not. Do you need to prove them wrong and bring them down?

I choose to claim that i am the greatest lover in the history of the world. Please make a video proving me wrong.

It is stupid.

In a nutshell, every anti who I've gotten to know fairly well, who openly engages in slamming and attacking the church, was a person who was an active member of the church, then later chose to follow the lusts of the world, and sought to justify that decision by berating fundamental LDS doctrine.

It's as though in the back of their minds, they know the gospel is true, but concurrently are mad at themselves for deciding to be weak about it. You can leave the church, but can't leave it alone.

See this has been my experience as well, almost like the more you prove its inconsistencies and further you fall away, the better you feel about your sins.

I think that is a pretty minor factor. If so, that is even more pathetic. Move to Utah and dedicate your life to attacking Mormonism because you are pissed off about one of their beliefs? Wow.

It's a little more complicated than that, NS.

Here's my take:

1. Some individuals feel called to "minister" to a certain groups of lost souls.

2. They believe that Mormon doctrine is perversion of true Christianity and a fulfillment of end-time prophesies of false teachers.

3. They do not wish to see anyone else led astray by the false relgion, so they must address it.

4. They feel they are fulfilling the Great Commission in this way.

Or perhaps Mr. Shaf will humour us and tell us who he is, what exactly he believes, and what he hopes to accomplish.

Exactly. Evangelicals like Aaron claim I am going to hell because of my beliefs. I just roll my eyes and say, "whatever." Like they know.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
