and of course this will throw some chaos into our ward as the musical chairs start up. Our ward is only marginally staffed, and something like this usually means several changes.
And to add insult to injury he is having his wife ask me to help him move their stuff into storage. You abandon us, and then want me help you abandon us? ![]() Danimal is going to regret not going for Asst. Scoutmaster when he had the chance. The bishop prior to the current one had something like seven different counselors. Current bishop will now be on his third. They seem to always pick youngis professionals. And these guys tend to move quite a bit. I wish the Lord would have them pick some 55 year old high priest. |

You've been a regular at Bishopric meetings in the past. Shouldn't be too much of a transition for you. Tithing is a piece of cake.

I would be very disappointed if I was called.
One, I haven't been in the scouting program for very long. And it desperately needs stability. Two, I don't want to supervise anymore people than I have to. As you have mentioned, out of sight, out of mind. And the reverse. Familiarity breeds callings. I hope to be scoutmaster for a few years. |

There are far fewer people who can make a good scoutmaster than there are who can make a good counselor in the bishopric. I'm all for leaving the good ones in for as long as possible. Enjoy bishopric meeting.

I'm safely hiding away in the primary. I think it's obvious that I can't manage 8 5-year olds, let alone being a counselor.

You'd be surprised how little the chance of getting a calling in a leadership postition is decreased by convincing current leadership how far one would go to be inactive.
Also, knowing that one would go inactive to avoid giving a talk in Sacrament Meeting is effective as well.
