Was that like the one where something happened bad and the good guy had to overcome something and then at the end it looked like he definitely wasn't going to make it, only to miraculously turn it around and make it work right at the very end?

Yes! And the subplot was about that other guy who was unfortunately in the wrong place at the same time and the cause and effect of that particular event created problems for him.

And we can't forget that one woman who distracted the good guy enough that he had to work extra hard to figure out what to do.

Wait, is this the same movie where the guy and the girl are obviously right for one another, but then there is a miscommunication and they break up. But then fate brings them back together, at the very end, and it looks like they are not going to make it, but the guy gives an emotional speech and it wins the girl over at the very end?

No, that's the chick flick my wife saw when I saw the one I'm talking about.

This one had more explosions then I could count. Great movie.
