Default Watched two movies this weekend Jet Li's...

new flick and The Machinist.

Fearless was a very good movie. The story was great, the scenery was beautiful, the moral wonderful. A great family movie, great teenager movie, and wonderful movie all around. If you loved HERO, you will love this movie.

The other film sucked, I couldn't get over how sick Batman looked, freaking gross.

I can't wait to see Fearless. Thanks for the review, I'm glad to see that last line as I loved Hero.

Flyboys is better than the reviews stated.

Fearless was on my list, but nobody else's; hence we deferred to "she-who-must-be-obeyed."

The story is beautiful and I found myself wanting to learn much more about Chinese culture, custom and tradition. It is in subtitles so small children wouldn't appreciate the dialogue, but young teens could glean a beautiful message from the movie.

Do what you think is right, work hard for what you want, center your priorities, family is of paramount importance, etc.

My wife cried, many others were crying, the action scenes were amazing and it was well worth the fifteen bucks.

Funny, I had a very similar reaction a couple years ago when I first watched Hero. To me there's something fascinating about Eastern cultures, and China is one huge, fascinating country. I know very little about it, but am interested in learning more. I even started looking into learning the language but haven't got back to it.

Have you seen House of Flying Daggers? Also, check out just about any movie by Yimou Zhang if you like that stuff. For the humorous, check out the Stephen Chow movies like Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, God of Cookery.

speaking of which, check out the trailer for Yimou Zhang's latest (to be released in the US this winter):

looks good.

I really like house of flying daggers.

but i understand that the movie was poorly received in the far east. Good thing that a bad script and wooden dialogue don't translate in subtitles!! Because it is terribly visually arresting. interesting story.

I expect that you will want to enroll in a Kata class as that's what I wanted to do.

There is a scene in the film I found particularly powerful, Jet Li is working in the fields, is attempting to work as fast as he can and realizes the men working beside him are not working, he looks up and the field workers are basking in the incoming breeze and taking a few seconds to appreciate God's gift to them. There is some dialogue afterwards concerning planting good crops that I found profound and uplifting.

I got an email from an old friend/college roommate who told me that he is in this movie. I have no idea how big a part he has, but I think he told me that he plays a guy named "Ed Thomas". I have to get out and see the movie just to tell him I saw him.

Kung Fu Hustle is a truly terrific, bizarre, entertaining, high energy movie. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and often wondered why because it is simply crazy and funny.
