Default The left's position on Afghanistan

I was listening to two congressmen debate Afghanistan on PBS's Jim Lehrer show.

I think the liberal's name was McGovern. He was unbelievably glib. "I'm for fighting Al Qaeda, and AQ is in Pakistan." He said if we were going to be there, needed a strict withdrawal timeline. He said that we don't need to nation build in Afghanistan, we need to nation build in the US.

George Will, some time ago, advocated a remote control war from a distance against Al Qaeda. I don't think that can be done.

None of the anti-war liberals will talk about what happens if we just pack up and leave. And if you ask the question to them, they will bite your head off, and call you Dick Cheney.

Obama looked at this. He likely begged and pleaded for a way to abandon the whole thing in a semi-credible fashion. And couldn't come up with a path.
