Thank you, Randall, for a little needed perspective.
You are right. This is no surprise. Federal money kept an absolute disaster from occurring. Without it, the states would be in shambles, many more would be unemployed, GDP would have shrunk much faster, etc. Good thing you weren't in charge or we would be in a real mess.

Oh dear, what would we do without the states to employ people and prop up GDP. Good thing they hired 12,000 people while the private sector cut 1.3 million. Whew, dodged that bullet.
