Not a new topic, but one renewed in me through the re-reading of Night by Elie Wiesel.
Night, in case you have not read it, was a work first published in 1955 in Yiddish, in 1958 in French and in 1960 in English. It was the story, more or less, of Mr. Wiesel as boy from Transylvania to the concentration camps. The death of his humanity, his faith and of his emotions, move me every time I think upon it. And make me regret the shoddy answers I gave investigators when queried about the existence of God in spite of these horrible events. It is the examination of human history which makes me believe God is a lot more Deistic than many LDS espouse. And the Holocaust is merely the most documented tragedy, but unfortunately not its only. God is mysterious but it is not a mystery why some feel him not.
