Default Obama at U. of Chicago

I didn't realize that Obama was brought to Chicago law by Michael McConnell, the UU prof and federal judge and one of the more prominent conservatives in the legal world.

This is a good read of Obama's time as a law prof. One interesting fact brought up is that Obama was offered tenure in 2000 at U Chicago without ever publishing.

There is a guy in our ward who had Obama as a law professor at U of Chicago. Although he did not vote for him, he did admire him greatly as a teacher. I think he would agree with another student quoted in the article.

So even some former students who are thrilled at Mr. Obama’s success wince when they hear him speaking like the politician he has so fully become.
“When you hear him talking about issues, it’s at a level so much simpler than the one he’s capable of,” Mr. Rodriguez said. “He was a lot more fun to listen to back then.”
