Default Obama should thank McCain for his trip to Iraq idea.

It worked out really well. The PM effectively endorsed Obama, Obama looked presidential and came across as an experienced diplomat, he got a 9 point bump in the polls back home, set the stage for a more positive relationship with several foreign powers after election, and left McCain to his blunders and loneliness.

Brilliant idea, McCain!

Pollster.com's electoral map is making this appear like it could turn into a landslide.

RCP doesn't show a 9-point bump. Rasmussen shows them a mere 3 points apart (w/o leaners).

It's nice to pick and choose which polls you celebrate, but the truth is there's not a ton of movement here. He got an average of a point or two out of it.

I agree with Ben Stein about McCain.

Worst campaign in memory.

And he still whipped Romney and Giuliani. It speaks volumes about the current talent level in the GOP.

He won because his flavor of Republicanism was virtually unchallenged by another like-minded candidate; whereas Huckabee and Romney were fighting over the same votes.

I'd rather not open that wound right now. I regret mentioning it.

Giuliani is about as dumb as a post when it comes to running a campaign. How does anyone go from odds on favorite and huge lead in the polls to nothing in a couple of months? Easy. Just think that you're big enough to ignore the early primary states. Giuliani was the worst GOP candidate for me. His civil liberties and bill of rights record was beyond scary. I would be shocked Seattle Ute endorsed him, but he's too blinded by the whole religion thing that he had to go with the most secular of all the GOP candidates despite Giuliani's strong authoritarian bent. Remember, this is the guy who tried to take down billboards in NYC that poked fun at him while he was mayor. He has no respect for the 1st, 2nd, or 4th amendments.
