I have always considered the rustle of many pages thumbed and turning in sacred books held by a multitude to be a lovely sound akin to wind in the willows or a surf. Only a cleric lacking any sensitivity for the poetic source of religious feeling would find the sound grating.

How do you like the sound of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth?
