Default I have no idea what any of the apostles'

personalities are like.

I have never met a single one of them.

Whoa, wait a sec. Yes, Quentin Cook came and spoke at a stake conference. I didn't meet him per se, but I heard him talk.

I never would have guessed in a million years that he would be an apostle. He seemed kind of mild-mannered. When compared to Elder Tingey, who had come a couple years early, Cook seemed like a wall-flower.

Tingey is the kind of guy who you expect to shake you like thunder if you screw up and pierce your soul. Not Cook. Who seemed like merely a nice man doing his job as best he can.

But anyway, I don't spend any time wondering what their personalities are like. It's inconsequential to me. In an era in which the only time members will see an apostle is on TV.

Their personalities no longer really matter, but rather their administrative effectiveness.

And my only encounters have been so formal that one could not see what they are really like.

Btw, I have all kinds of emotions. Happy, loving, angry, surprised, shocked, sad, etc.

I hope you all can handle that.

I had an interview with Cook ... Certainly a formal encounter but I really liked him. He was mild-mannered in the event as well but very likable. Almost a quiet charisma if such a thing exists.

I disagree. The personalities of the apostles still matter a great deal. Maybe you mean to you they no longer matter. I don't imagine the apostles keep cloistered in their offices; they interact with the general membership and wider public much more than apostles in the past, and so I think their personalities matter more today than ever.

The problem with their personalities, I think, is one that afflicts the church generally, and that is a blah uniformity of niceness. Charming senses of humor, unrelenting courteousness, smiley greetings and superficial inquiries, etc. You know what I'm describing. Maybe that's why I like Elder Packer -- his personality at least seems unique.

I would love to see Waters be an apostle. I am a huge fan of anything off script at church.

I would probably be the most boring, sanctimonious apostle you ever heard.

Don't believe this for a second.
