I voted the church because the option of neither wasn't there. I tend to come down on the churches side on issues. However since the church is managed by people who make mistakes, I can't be sure some injustice hasn't been done.

Default I've seen members of our ward castigate

the bishop for the results of a disciplinary council against one of our members. (that member hasn't been back to church since - how dare they treat my friend like that). Two individuals seemingly involved in the same behavior, yet one was disfellowshipped, the other was not.

Problem with those who judged, they didn't have, nor do they currently know all the facts. Just the facts the offending party has chosen to share with neighbors and friends.

I can't imagine a worse position to be in than on a Excommunication council, I personally have never been involved with one but my Bro. has been in many.

He tells me how discouraging it is for someone who thinks they have done nothing wrong to get punished and then thru pride to stay away from something they have deemed important all their lives.

Seems pretty sad if the parties involved are just bitter about it.

punishment. They leave feeling better than when they came in. I only know of 2 instances in over 13 years where that was not the case.

I have NEVER seen anyone who has done nothing wrong.....unless you consider adultery, child abuse, criminal activity, etc. 'right'.

I voted The Church, because in general, I find aggrieved parties to be a bunch of whiners.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
