Default Verbatim quote from an actual Patriarchal Blessing...

..."Be careful in your relationships, know thoroughly those you would accept as friends. Membership in the Church is a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing to those who carefully and diligently lead their families, follow the commandments and lead their lives in a way that is a blessing to others. But not all of those who call themselves Latter-day Saints, especially in the west are worthy of His Name....many who show for every activity, for every meeting, for every prayer are truly abhorrent to Heavenly Father....."

It gave me a good chuckle.

Where did you come across that one? "Especially in the West", that's pretty funny.

One of the most exciting things I did on my mission was translate a report from a stake president into English that was being sent to one of the twelve on a discipline procedure involving the stake patriarch. Among other things, he was blessing all of the Korean saints that their lineage was Dan. They told him to stop but he wouldn't.

What was the funny part?

It sounds like a good voice of warning to a person who tends to put too much trust in the title of "active member of the church."

Apparently "East Coast Bias" cuts across religious lines as well.

That is a real gem, malapert.

Humor comes from the element of truth.

This is from a personal acquaintance, so I can vouch for its authenticity.

Mullah myboynoah speaks.

Assuming it is legit, it has no place here. Such a blessing is for the individual, not the masses. We have no idea of the context and it has obviously been doctored.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

You're just jealous that you are not from the Tribe of Dan.
