Default Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store...

All this bleating here about "McCain isn't a true conservative." What these people really mean is that he doesn't have SOCIALLY CONSERVATIVE bona fides. Maybe what we have learned in this election is that the religious right is truly not a majory factor when it comes to voting in a national election, they are on the fringe, they are a paper tiger, there's no bite or roar. We've been cow towing to these nut jobs while we had nothing to fear from them. They wore no clothes. Could that be it?

You desperately need a television my friend. McCain is a social conservative. Concerns with him tend to stem from his impulses towards big government and that he's not a team player.

Barbara said this is the only issue that matters to the Christian right. I'm sure he's been looking ahead. At least he didn't change his mind. I don't like abortion either, but I wouldn't support a Constitutional amendment banning it everywhere. I bet he wouldn't either. That's where I draw the line on social conseratives. I bet the LDS Church would come out favoring such an amendment.

You're right, he's also taken a state's rights position on this point.

How much are you putting up? I'm know I can't match you, but I'm sure I can get a large consortium together to take you up on that wager. Just set the date certain, and let's go for it.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

How could the Church support such an Amendment when it is currently is allowed and approved by the Church (under a limited set of circumstances...I know)?

Conservative angst about McCain is adequately summarized by Joe Scarborough in this clip:
