Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Yes. He was saving bears in a national wildlife preserve.

David Letterman had him on the show and asked the Grizzlyman if one day we would hear reports that he had been eaten by the bears. Everyone laughed but the Grizzlyman.

Timothy whats-his-name? He and his girlfriend got eaten together. The bear had a two-course meal.

In watching the show one couldn't tell if wanted to save the bears or have sex with them.

He was one bizarre individual.

That was entertaining.

I was waiting for the big climax, though - a confrontation with a grizzly.
