Dan in Real Life
Took the girlfriend to see this on Saturday night.
I was fully prepared for a crappy chick flick that I would just have to endure for duration, and to make the GF happy, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. Very well done story, with a lot of sensible human emotions that made the movie feel real and poignant. Steve Carell's humor was understated more than it normally is, but still was very funny in the right spots. I was laughing out loud when he was on the double date in the bar and started dancing. Good music as well. I'll probably buy the soundtrack. For once a very well done story "chick flick" that didn't make me want to gouge my eyes out with the opposite end of a spoon.

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!! Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith. |
