My kid entered a Guitar Hero Tournament today
My wife just dropped him off and called me with the following observation: "I've never seen that many nerds in one room."

I would love to go see a guitar hero tournament. I've got a mental picture in my head of your typical "musician" that shows up at these types of things (present company excluded, of course).
The details of this picture are still a little fuzzy, but it always involves a hand-crafted, custom-made guitar case for both of the kid's guitars that he brings. One for warm-up and the easier, lower songs; the other for everything on "Hard" or "Expert" levels. The actual competition room is filled with sunglass-clad 12 year old kids with suede jackets with collars upturned, sitting on bar stools with a half-smoked cigarette hanging out of the side of their mouth, ala Anthony Michael Hall in "The Breakfast Club". That would be great fun to see. I hope that SteelBlue's tourney report includes pictures. Just so long as they coincide with my mental image of the joint. |

Holy cow! Thats him in Lebowski's avatar. The winner of the contest. He looks much older than 12 years old.
I've had the avatars turned off on my account for awhile, so I had no idea what to expect when I just turned them back on. |

Tournament report:
There were 20 entrants in the "Expert" division. He was the overall winner. It was a head to head best 2 out of 3 format. He said he never lost a game. I told him this just makes him king of a bunch of nerds. He won $50 bucks so he sees it as making 10 bucks an hour to play a game. |
