One lesson from this fire:
Do not have your photos and important documents stored only in your home.
Most of us are probably taking digital photos. So many ways digital files can be lost. Hard disks crashing, files being corrupted. CD's going bad. In my opinion, you need at least 2 backups, one of them being off-site. So for example, you have all those files on 2 different hard drives, within your computer and maybe another hard drive at work. In my case I use an online mirroring service that stores all those gigs of files on their server. What I need to do now is go back and scan all my old photos and important documents like my childhood journal. He that can hear, let him hear. |

My dad's house burned when he was a kid. We don't have a single baby photo of him.
