Default Gifts of the Spirit and Patriarchal Blessings

Does your PB bless you with, or mention that you have specific gifts of the spirit?

This is the last place I'd discuss my Patriarchal Blessing.

Indy, you contribute nothing to making this place more spiritual. In fact, it's the opposite.

And I'm *this close* to begging you to leave this site.

That's very mullah-ish of you, Mike.

You need to be more tolerant of those who aren't as spiritual as you.

If you don't want to discuss patriarchal blessings because this is the "worst" place to do it, WHY IN THE WORLD piss all over us that have an interest?

Not everyone gets invited to every dinner party. I don't have restraining orders, but I might politely tell someone their behavior is rude and unwelcome.

Did you read the patriarchal blessing thread? I dont see any bashing, or questionable doctrine at all. Also even Non-Sequitur talked about a religious experience.

Mike, looks like gifts of the spirit may not be so rare after all, if this poll is any indication.

Given your constant whining about the policing of Cougarboard, I'd hope you'd apply this policy consistently. You cannot deny that posting on this board often amounts to voluntarily being cross-examined by 27 hostile attorneys.

As to your question (so this isn't a COMPLETE hijack), my blessing doesn't refer to gifts of the Spirit as "formally" defined in D&C 46, but it does mention spiritual gifts. I would imagine most do to some degree or another, no?

I know some people (including myself) who have very generic and broad patriarchal blessings. While some are very detailed and say things about who you'll marry, whether or not you'll have kids, etc... Some are just short and sweet.

I've always felt a little let down by mine in that way... It is very short, and very generic. I've always liked to tell myself that there is just a whole lot of meaning packed into those few words but sometimes I feel like I might have just gotten the Patriarch on a bad day.

On a very personal note... I think I have benefited from this... I'm the kind of person who would LOVE to see everything spelled out in black and white. If my PB were very specific about gifts or other things, I might be frantically trying to see the blessing fulfilled in some very literal way according to my own understanding of the text.
