Default Mack Wilberg's arrangement of "Deep River"

Is it anything like this?

Wilberg's arrangement is much better. It is longer and incorporates his brilliant ability to transition and change keys for dramatic effect. The choir director I am working with has also added her own touches (including a repeat).

Wilberg's arrangement is available in the public domain.

Very appropriate. I think it would be even better with two or three violins and use of a transposed second violin part to add depth (FW could do that in her sleep).

It's also available on iTunes (if the version MoTab is singing is Wilberg's arrangement).

Here is a link to the publisher. Our director ordered and purchased the copies ($1.80 each) through her school district. I would send you a copy, but I am a great believer in music copyright laws and the struggles of composers to actually make a semblance of a profit.

Motivated by this forum and our recent discussions about music in church I have returned to an old idea I have had and have finally started an arrangement of what I hope will be a sacrament appropriate version of Morning has Broken. As you may know, the song is actually a very old poem that was used as a hymn for many years before Cat Stevens co opted it (and this is not a criticism of Pre-Yusef Cat, who I actually liked despite his tendency to surrender to his ego). The arrangement I am working on will not start with the Rick Wakeman intro so-well known to everyone as that would probably set off all the blue hairs. Instead, it will start more traditionally hymn-like and then build to the third verse where Rick's style will pop up as accompaniment. Because I am no longer the choir director I will have to get the current director's agreement to use it, but as our budget for buying music is low, and we try to have the choir sing frequently, I think I stand a reasonable chance. While I have no chance to do anything remotely impressive, it iwll keep me occupied with a fun project for a while. BEtter than watching DVDs in the evening. Thanks for the inspiration!

ah well, I thought when you said "public domain" you meant "free". But really you meant "available to purchase".

Our ward has no money, so I doubt anything that involves purchase will happen.

Our choir had a $50 annual budget. When I was director I used to buy all the music myself, but the then bishop made me stop because he said it put unfair expectations on others that would have the calling. AS a result, I started doing my own arrangements just to have something new to sing. The choir directors in our stake also coordinate and share music purchases so there is always some new stuff.
