Default Has the White Jersey winner ever also won yellow?

Maybe Eddie, but has anybody before? Jan Ullrich?

Best overall time for a 'young' rider, under 25 years old as of Jan 1 of that year. Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maillot_blanc) says the competition for that jersey has changed over the years. Interesting.

It seems like I read somewhere that Mercx would have won in back in '69(?), but the White jersey didn't begin until 74, or so.

I guess I could actually read the article before spouting off about some distant, probably incorrect memory.

According to the article, before 1975 it involved a combination of sprinter, mountain, combatitiveness and GC to award the white; thereafter it became a best young rider award.

Four "went on to win the maillot jaune". It didn't specify if the winner won in the same year, but it appears Ullrich and Patani may have won it in the same year.

Ullrich won the Tour in '97, his 2nd of 3 years to take the white jersey. Wiki says: "Ullrich's simultaneous victories in both the General Classification category and the young riders category marked the first time the same rider had won both categories in the same Tour since Laurent Fignon in 1983." Pantani won the Tour in '98, well after his white jersey years of '94 and '95.
