Default French news emphasizes that the Italian on Cofidis

Is this doping going to really blow up the cycling world?

I'm not familiar enough with the sport to know what kind of an effect this will have.

There has always been cheating in Sport.

Has anybody ever heard of the Black Sox?

Sport is a break off of war. Do you think men played fair in war?

I believe we will see a renewed emphasis on cleanness for a while, until a new untraceable drug can be found. Athletes will always seek that little extra advantage.

Cylcing will endure.

The sport will survive. I think it has been serously undermined in the USA. Rather than looking for or inspriing the next american champion, everyone is now back to thinking of the tour as a bunch of grotesquely skinny guys in lycra outfits that are like so many tubes of illegal chemicals pedaling around France for far too long every summer. It is a big blow, but it can come back.

Htere is a poll on the front page of L'Equipe, a French newspapre, that shows that 70% said no when asked "Le cyclisme peut-il être sauvé du dopage?" beinfg translated, roughly, is "Can cycling be saved from doping?" That really surprised me. The French love cycling and the large majority of thiose responding think it is in deep trouble.

It iwll take time and it will take effort but the sport will endure, as arch says.

The major harm is with the sponsors. They are very gunshy.

But, with the next charismatic wonder, they will be back. This Tour has been more entertaining for me than any since Lance's first win and Greg's 1989 win.

Barry Bonds is a cheater and is celebrated.

I think it is time to boycott MLB. It's a farce.
