Default My buddy won the Flatlander 12 hour race

Now he has won a 24 hour race and a 12 hour race, trying to make the USA B World Ultra distance team for 2007.

He stated it kinda sucked because the first ten hours hurt like hell and only the last two hours felt good.

He passed the previous leader at mile 60. He also noted, "hey, I didn't walk any."

So he set a track record, a PR for 12 hours and is ready to do another in three weeks. He is racing around Lake Tahoe, that's seventy-two miles at altitude with lots of "climbing".

Needless to say, he kicks my butt on any long runs. He commented he didn't feel so badly today at the track, only three days after his race, more like he'd only run "forty" miles. Seeing him in his weakened condition, I took the opportunity to "kick" his butt during speed workout. Mind you he was doing recovery work at 8:28 minute mile pace, so I could win before starting but it's not every day one can whip the butt of such a great athlete. Mind you, this guy did a fifty miler with his first 27 miles being at 2:52 minutes. He bonked shortly thereafter, but he's no slouch no matter what. His total distance was 77.89 miles, a track record by 5 miles.

Dirtie, if you see this old guy, be prepared to be Hippied.
