Default Joy to my heart: Brady Campaign gives Obama straight F's

NYTimes on the backlash against Obama's campaign promises to bring more gun control:

There certainly won't be any anti-gun legislation before the midterms.

As long as Obama's future in 2012 is uncertain, he will not push for gun control. If he thinks he is doomed, or if he thinks 2012 is an easy win, he may actually move against the Constitution and the American people. But I don't think it will happen. The desire for power is too great.

This was entirely predictable, for those of us who stepped away from the rhetoric and into reality for a moment.

Again you see poor political calculus by the amateurish Obama administration--make promises to enact gun control in your campaign, thus riling up pro-gun citizens, who literally go on a crazed spending spree after the election. Then have your AG make comments about enacting more gun control, adding more fuel to the fire.

Then actually do nothing. So you spend capital on making promises to enact gun control thus losing the trust and support of pro-gun folks, and then you don't actually do anything, which pissess off your supporters from the left.

It's not like pro-gun citizens think Obama supports the 2nd Amendment. It's just that he doesn't have any political capital to enact his agenda.
