Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize

In a stunning announcement, Millard Fillmore Senior High School chose Shawn Rabinowitz, an incoming junior, as next year’s valedictorian. The award was made, the valedictorian committee announced from Norway of all places, on the basis of “Mr. Rabinowitz’s intention to ace every course and graduate number one in class.” In a prepared statement, young Shawn called the unprecedented award, “f---ing awesome.”

At the same time, and amazingly enough, the Pulitzer Prize for Literature went to Sarah Palin for her stated intention “to read a book someday.” The former Alaska governor was described as “floored” by the award, announced in Stockholm by nude Swedes beating themselves with birch branches, and insisted that while she was very busy right now, someday she would make good on her vow to read a book. “You’ll see,” she said from her winter home in San Diego.

Let's not forget that Obama gets the Nobel just after stiffing the Dalai Lama, the first president in forever to refuse to sit down with him. For the purpose of making the communist govt. in China happy.

Everytime I think of Obama getting this prize, I giggle.

1.4 million. He can't afford to give that back. He needs to start cashing in before he goes on his multi-million speech tour when he is an ex-president.


The part that kills me:

On his world apology tour, Obama trades American prestige for the goodwill of fools.

One recalls Palo Alto Coug gushing over Obama. A lot of old men who are fools as well.

Peggy Noonan weighs in. I can't do the column justice; it's worth a complete read:

It is absurd and it is embarrassing. It would even be infuriating if it were not such a declaration of emptiness.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has embarrassed itself and cheapened a great award that had real meaning.

In one mindless stroke, the committee has rendered the Nobel Peace Prize a laughingstock, perhaps for as long as a generation. And that is an act of true destruction, because it was actually good that the world had a prestigious award for peacemaking.

Her suggestion to repair the damage:

How to redeem this? That is a hard question, but here is one idea. The president will deliver a big speech in Oslo Dec. 10: white tie and tails, a formal, bound statement. The world, as they say, will be watching. He should deflect the limelight. (Can he?) He should make his subject bigger than himself. (Is there a subject bigger than himself?) He has been accused of traveling through the world on an extended apology tour. That isn't fair, but the tag is there. How about an unapologetic address, a speech, with the world's elites leaning forward and listening, about the meaning of America? A speech that shows a grounded and sophisticated love for his country and its great traditions and history. Not a nationalistic speech, not a prideful one, but a loving one.

This might to some degree redeem this wicked and ignorant award, this mischievous honor.
