So my wife was backing out of our driveway yesterday morning to take our son to school and she hit the fire hydrant across the street which poked a hole into our rear bumper. The van has 350 miles on it, and already this. I saw it happen, and my wife got out of the van and sat on our front steps, feeling bad. I felt a surge of frustration, but as I walked over to her, I saw the barretts in her hair, and for some reason, at that moment the frustration I had completely left me, and I gave my wife a hug.

Do you ever have moments like that, where some unexpected view makes any frustration or anger you have towards a loved one dissipate?

I think it was the fact that my wife had woken up early, gotten ready for the day, put breakfast on the table for the boys, and was on her way to take our son to school, and the barretts were a reimnder of all this -- the barretts she had put into her hair as she got ready for a day of service to the fam.

Nice story. So, is she going to work in the afternoons to pay for the damage?

She took a part-time job as a valet.

No, we're just going to get a very big Obama-Palin bumper sticker to cover the damage. I love the symbolism of it all.
