Default Talked with my Bishop today...

He is my boss so it is easy to get his time...

I asked him about the whole "Hearing things from the prophet and going home and pondering and praying about it" thing I have been raised up on.

He told me it was a wives tail and not true. If it comes from the prophet we are to go with it.

I am not here to discuss the wisdom in what he has said. I am curious on the accuracy of what he said.

Don't tell me he is an idiot or mindless because he isn't...I am just curious to find out if my parents were stringing me along with that line.

Thanks.

A Pinocchio-esque protuberance that grows when they lie.

When G.A. Smith was president of the church...The Presiding Bishopric was working on a teaching manuel. It said," When the General Authorities speak the thinking has been done." This is fallacious. A member of the church at that time wrote to the prophet and explained his disagreeance with it. Pres. Smith told the member that he was right in his thinking.

Joseph Smith said that any man of the church who requires unquestioned obedience usually has in his heart to do wrong.
