Oh really. Last I heard Irving Kristol was still predicting (and hoping) Bush would bomb Iran before leaving office and calling him a "great president." Ed Koch spammed me last presidential election, saying vote Bush. Last year Lieberman defected from the democratic party over the war.

So long as Hillary is a contender there will be no dissention because her friends know she's a closet hawk.

So are you suggesting that many Jews will vote for McCain, if it is Obama vs. McCain?

The minute Obama gets the nomination I bet he starts to temper his antiwar rhetoric. A two-year withdrawal will become a "goal," but the situation on the ground will drive his decision making.

"I always reserve as commander in chief, the right to assess the situation (in Iraq)."

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Well, the background and religious affiliation and pro-war sentiments of folks like the Kristols, Koch, Lieberman, Norman Podhoretz and other Jewish neocons who once were liberal democrats and current democrats of like mind who have supported Bush and the war is well known. They don't hide their pro-Israel sentiments, or that those sentiments affect their foreign policy views. But I'm not suggesting it's necessarily a Jew thing. Hitchins isn't a Jew, and he's been a favorite adopted son of the administration, neither are the president and vice president or Colin Powell, who in his lectures still defends the war.

By the way, in my opinion Israel represents an important national interest, and Israel's security is someting we should not hesitate to go to war over, not for a New York second. I'm surprised if any devout Mormon would disagree with me.
