Why did they feel a need to change USC to Harvard?

They could make a movie about how Utah walloped USC in the Orange Bowl in 2004 and won the National Championship. That seems like a pretty good analogy.

I'd prefer something with more historicity, such as BYU beating Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in 1984. BYU did defeat Oklahoma and BYU did win the national championship, just not in the Orange Bowl.

My point was that USC, while a very fine school, is miles from being Harvard academically, just as the 2004 Pittsburgh team was miles from the 2004 USC team. In either case, you are taking the impressiveness of it up an order of magnitude for artistic and/or political purposes. It is simply a well intended lie, but then, sometimes we should only tell that part of history that affirms what we already believe. Some people are far too in love with the truth.

East Coast bias.

Heck I was impressed when they defeated Oklahoma City College. And they won some national accolades.

It would have been just as impressive. I suppose that's why Oprah is impressed with Obama, just notching up his credentials a bit.
