Juno - A cute look at teen pregnancy
Not sure if anyone has seen the previews for this movie. We went last week.
It is basically an offbeat comedy about a high school girl who gets pregnant then tried to find good adoptive parents for her unborn child. Funny in parts and overall worth checking out. It has Jason Batemen in it, which is a huge plus. Unfortunately, Jason Batemen is playing a husband married to Jennifer Garner, and not anything resembling Arrested Development, which is a huge negative. The outstanding aspect of this film.....la musica! I am more interested in the soundtrack. It is excellent. If you are looking for a nice indie or indie-punk sampler, head over to your favorite local record shop and purchase it....or be a jerk and buy it at a big box retailer that has a crappy music selection. Either way, the disc is great. The Moldy Peaches, Mott the Hoople, Belle and Sebastian, Velvet Underground, the drop, Antsy Pants to name a few. Most notable are all the new tracks by Kimya Dawson. very interesting stuff if you are into nerd-core. there is something charming about it, albeit in an annoying way (kind of like me, as a person). Ironically, these tunes fit very well into the movie, which gives you an idea of the overall vibe of the movie itself. check her out at myspace http://www.myspace.com/kimyadawson
