I don't think he's really gay -- probably just a same-sex attraction. Either way, I want to state for the record that though I do hate the sin, I still love Dumbledore.

I thought it was a dead giveaway when he was ironing his jeans in book 6.

When I read about it last night my first thought was that JKR outed Dumbledore as a publicity stunt (she's currently on a speaking tour). The last book has been published, all the mystery has been resolved, not much attention on her or HP any more until the next movie comes out. Hmm, what's a good way to drum up some publicity just in time for my speaking tour? Ahhh, I know! I'll just say Dumbledore is gay!

I think you're confusing Sir Ian McKellen with Richard Harris. Gandolf and Magneto were played by Sir Ian McKellen, who is gay in real life. Dumbledore was played by Richard Harris, before he died. Now he's played by Michael Gambon.

Nah, I was making a joke about Sir McKellen's preferences, and his character tie ins.
