Default Heroes review

We watched Heroes season one over the last week. Marathon nights over the weekend--fun way to watch a TV series like this.

Overall assessment. Pretty good show, but not as good as LOST. Was moving along real well middle of the season but last 5-6 shows really slowed down.

Negatives:
  • DL/Vanessa-Nicky/Micah story totally lame
  • too X-menish
  • too much repitition and overdevelopment of certain plot points--how many times do we get Nicky and DL having some conversation about their relationship or how many times do we get Claire's dad talking about the difficult choices he's made to protect his family. UGH
  • too soap operaish with characters being interrelated. I know LOST does it too, but it seems to have more of a purpose behind it in that show.
  • plot weaknesses--kill the radiation guy already!
  • bad acting--DL, indian guy Saresh--he's horrible
Positives:
  • Hiro and Endo--totally great characters. I've loved nearly all their scenes.
  • fat cop hearing thoughts guy--great character
  • good story--fun to watch it unravel
  • complex characters--good guys that have bad charactersistics and vice versa, redemption for certain characters, not sure if someone's good or bad

I too watched the first season on DVD a few weeks ago.

I enjoyed most of it.

I'm not a big fan of the DL/His Dual Wife/and Son storyline either.

The season finale was a let down in my opinion. They were building up a Siler/Peter Showdown and it never really happened.

Flawed, but still easily one of the best 10 shows on TV right now.

The finale was a bit of a let down. As were the last 4-5 episodes in general. The tension really built up to the save the cheerleader episode, and then it carried forward a few more episodes, but the Pettreli story, DL/dual wife stories towards the end dragged it down.

A Peter/Sylar showdown wouldn't have turned me on much. Action is not why that show is good.

I only have about three shows in my rotation at a time. 24 was kicked out halfway through last season, so Heroes will take that spot along with LOST and The Office.

Agreed. I still like watching it, even though the first 2 episodes of the new season have been underwhelming to say the least.

Season 3 of Prison Break thus far has been way better.
