My parents went and it sounded like they had very few rules and pretty did what they wanted. Of course, old people love to sit around talking and passing along wisdom.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

At one time we had hoped to go, but now if I go, I go alone. It was fun the first time, it would not be fun the second time.

Seems like I remember a conference talk specifically about this a while back. Can't remember who it was and I'm sure I'm paraphrasing horribly, but the bottom line was that it was no less selfish for grandma and grandpa to not go due to grandkids, etc . than for grandson to not go due to school, girlfriend, etc.

I was impressed by the talk.

If I get married again and then later on in life if I'm physically able to go on another mission I think it would be a pretty fun experience.

I'll go with my wife with you and yours to the pacific paradise.

That's where my heart is.

When I was in Tahiti, we noticed they needed missionary couples. At that time, the wife said it sounded fun. Now, she says, "Never!"

I wanted to proselyte along the beach.
