My predictions on Big XII
1. No expansion. Contracts renegotiated. GOR expire, setting Texas and Oklahoma free, and the little Eight have no place to go.
2. BYU may get a scheduling agreement with the Big XII.

BYU is dead for expansion prospects until it resolves its LBGTQ issues, which is probably never.
I curse the short-sighted bureaucratic leaders and their efforts to fight long lost cultural battles.

I curse the Big XII for putting on this dog-and-pony show.
BYU will amend its policies to accommodate. It already has to keep its ABA accreditation.

I forgot about this until tonight. I was with a UT buddy and I asked him if he had heard anything about Big 12 expansion from the press conference. Nothing. He hadn't even known there was going to be a press conference.
So I looked it up on my phone. No expansion. That's what I expected, given recent movements. I already made my call long ago that BYU would not be selected for expansion. This is the best possible news for us BYU fans right now (short of BYU being selected). Because this means the landscape COULD change in the future and BYU MIGHT be selected. But presumably BYU will fall on its sword to punish girls who have been raped and ban boys who want to kiss. As the last defense against the fall of Christianity. Presumably when the Big 12 does expand and adds 4, and leaves BYU out, that will usher in the Second Coming, as the last great act of evil on this great earth. Am I right? Amirite, or what? |

the "toxicity" of BYU cited in the ESPN article about non-expansion.
http://www.espn.com/college-football...reat-runaround Seems like most guys on CB are very happy to be standing up against boys kissing boy, and girls kissing girls. Presumably they are less happy about Mormon gay youth committing suicide, but they really don't talk about that. |

SI confirms that the gay issue squashed BYU's chances. As cited in the Sltrib.

Junior Miller on 1310 The Ticket ripped on the Big 12 this morning. But he lost all credibility when he said that he expects the Pac 12 to likely pick up BYU in the future. Shows he has no idea what BYU is up against.
BYU has no friends. And I'm afraid that the church sees its path to survival through litigation rather than building bridges. |

I agree. The only sports journalists I listen to are the analytics-oriented folk Brian Kenny and Nate Silver.

welp, this means the WCC into the future.
Sports wilderness for BYU, irrelevancy, no conference championships, no big bowls, no chance to be in the football playoffs. I think we are taking our death sentence pretty well. I don't think it's sunk in for most people. |
