LDS Economists at Top Schools (response to Arch's inquiry a while back)
I remember Archaea asked this question about if there any LDS economists at the top schools.
I had knowledge of it but I didn't gather my thoughts. The top-ranked schools are (1) MIT, (2) Harvard, and (3) Chicago, with some year-to-year variation. Econometrician Whitney Newey is a strong member of the Church and is at the top-ranked economics school, MIT. Lant Pritchett, an LDS development economist is at Harvard (right now he is at the Kennedy School directing their MPAID program). There is a less-active Nobel Prize winner Lars Hansen at Chicago. He is still supportive of the Church and BYU. Also, both Kim Clark's and Clayton Christensen's PhDs are in economics. Last edited by ChinoCoug; 03-24-2016 at 03:13 PM. |
