I need an idea for my next scout meeting...
Trying to think of something not-as-lame-as-usual.

yeah, I thought of doing some orienteering stuff. Of course, i need a compass. (I have two handheld GPS's, maybe I'll have them use that)

You could always do one of the old "team building" egg games...
Put a bunch of pipe cleaners a manila folder, some straws, cotton balls, etc... In a ziploc bag. Have them divide into teams and see who can make something that will keep the egg from breaking when you throw it off the building or down the stairs. We went to a local parking garage so we could get 4 stories.

Do the knot tying merit badge. Have them tie each other up. That way you only have to deal with half of them.

We planted trees for the city this week. Last week we planned and dug for our garden -we will plant the vegetables next week. For the garden we had two options, buy a galvanized steel trough, store it on church grounds and risk vandalism or clean up a portion of my assistants yard (he lives around the corner from the church), put in good soil and plant a garden … we opted for the garden at my assistants house. We are still working on our orienteering badge … it’s been fun, worth the time. |
