bluegoose kicked my butt today
We went out and did our 14 today but left way too late. We hit the trail at about 9:45 and an hour in I knew I was in trouble. Temps were around 90 degrees at that point and we had been trying to average an 8:30/mile pace. I'm fairly certain we were faster than that for much of that hour. Anyway, we took our first water break (I was stupid and didn't carry any) at about mile 8. I felt fine up to that point but after the water break started feeling a little sluggish. We got to mile 10 and I told goose that I was going to run back to my truck and since he was smart enough to carry water I didn't want to slow him down. He took off and finished strong. What ensued for me was 4 miles of dehydrated misery and some run/walk/run as I found myself in the baking sun. It's officially time to start carrying water and eating on these long runs. I'm blaming goose's torrid pace more than the sun though.

great job guys.
Did a 10K plus today with the 10K at 44 minutes warming down another mile. Not great but a hard workout after Lotoja last week.

And just in case you guys think I'm a total jerk, yes I did offer to let him use one of the water bottles I was carrying. He politely declined, for some reason. Plus I had to go coach my 5 year old's soccer game right afterward. It was a well deserved nap after the football game. |

I'll die of dehydration before I'll take water from the guy who came prepared. As ill as I felt for the next few hours after that run, you can bet I won't show up without water again.

I bonked on Saturday big time. My buddy is training for St. George, so I decided to go with him on his 16 miler. I have what doctors like to call a little bit of a sweating problem, so I have to take a lot of water with me.
The problem was, he was going too slow. I was expecting to be done with the run in a little under 2 1/2 hours, but we were out there over 2 hours and had barely reached 11 miles. And I was out of water. It didn't take long until I was toast. I felt horrible for messing up his LSD run and I tried to get him to go without me, but apparently I looked like shiz and he refused to leave. He walked me to Smith's, bought me a Powerade and waited for my wife to come get me. Then he ran home. Not a good day. But it's hard for me to complain too much, I found out that I have a pretty good friend. |

We did hill repeats, painful but something I don't mind.
