Wife kicks hubby out for masturbating
Young BYU couple. Temple marriage. Married a year. No kids. He's had a history of off and on struggles with porn which he seems to have a handle on--apparently at least several months in the past but it's had quite a toll on her. He tells her he masturbated, and she kicks him out, threatens divorce over it.

I wonder why he felt the need to tell her and that seems pretty extreme to threaten to leave over that.

Have they not consummated their marriage yet?
Is this one of those "ooh icky, evil, icky" situations? |

Sounds like she is also tired of his porn addiction, which would be understandable. You say it has had quite a toll on her....in what way? Does he treat her poorly as a result of his viewing porn?
Hard to make a call with the limited facts, but it sounds like we all concur that there is no way that she is divorcing her husband solely because he went Onan the Barbarian once or twice.

I'm curious what the ladies among us think, but I agree with the opinions already expressed. A real overreaction that shows an emotional immaturity and emotional detachment from her new husband. Even if it was associated with pornography, it is still an overreaction -- but not one that I'll judge. It must hurt to have expectations dashed and the hopes of an ideal husband ruined. Hopefully it was just that -- an overreaction based on justifiable hurt and confusion. But if she's serious, the husband will then be better off for it.

I'm sure there are plenty of BYU wives that wouldn't hesitate to leave for that reason. |
