BYU vs. Nevada game
Another loss for the Cougs. What is that, 3rd in a row?
1. I enjoyed watching Stewart play. He reminded me of Cougar quarterbacks of yore. One imagines that he could be a very good passer if given enough time to develop. But really doesn't have the tools to be an elite quarterback at a higher level. Still, it is encouraging to see the development. And to see the kinds of throws he can make that frankly Taysom Hill doesn't. If Stewart could develop a bit more touch and accuracy on the longer balls, esp. while on the move, he could be dangerous. 2. Interesting how the BYU OL was so dominant in the 1st half and so lackluster in the 2nd half. 3. This defense continues to struggle. It's especially notable with the pass rush. There isn't a pass rush. Bronson Kaufusi is garbage. And the other guys are worse. Blitzes are completely ineffective. This is a big problem. 4. Who was that white fifth string RB? Enjoyed watching him make some moves. 5. One is again reminded of the fact that Bronco never outcoached someone during a game to win. It happens the other way quite often. 6. People on CB are up in arms about Bronco. I yawn. We know what we have with him, and we've had this for a long time. He instills a certain kind of discipline and work ethic that gets the kids playing hard. But does he recruit well? No. Does he develop players well? No. Does he gameplan well? No. Does he make on-the-fly adjustments well? No. Is any decent program in American interesting in hiring him? No. Is the outlook for BYU football extremely pessimistic, given independent status, no conference affiliation, shut out of everything important, getting relatively little money? Yes. Home schedule sucks. Day and time of games suck. And frankly the football product is not very fun. BYU used to have a certain kind of football product. Throwing the ball, scoring points, etc. We're just another average to sometimes above average team with nothing distinguishing us except hard-to-pronounce Poly names and white players with 2 kids and a pregnant wife in the stands. There isn't really a true commitment to winning in this program, and all the fans are beginning to realize it. I've known it for a long time. BYU football is a potemkin village and it's becoming very obvious. I'm not really upset. I just don't care as much. And there's nothing I can do about it. I just sit on this website that has about 4 people. Well at least I got the Cowboys. HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!! God must really hate BYU. |

The injuries aren't BYU's fault, are they? I think it's funny they're all ankle injuries.
Even with half our starters out we're still competitive with UNR. And Bronco gets outcoached. This sucks for me because my homecoming game with my Cal siblings is now meaningless. Ugh. |

Hey I know you had a good time.
In the 2nd half, Nevada learned how to cage Stewart and Bronco could not make any adjustment. |
