Hey, we have found common ground again. It makes me happy to know we feel the same about something.

If it is sexist to hate the Dixie Chicks, then I'm a proud sexist, especially after I was bored late one night and watched the documentary about them called "Shut Up and Sing."
They came across as small minded idiots who felt like they were the victims because they didn't want to have to accept the consequences of their own words.

The Dixie Chicks are what got me through the MTC. I can't tell you how many times I listened to 'Cowboy' while there, it made me feel normal in a very surreal way.

That's funny. I took some Pantera tapes into the MTC and I'd listen to them as I fell asleep. Interestingly enough, Cowboys From Hell was one of my favorites. I threw them away when I got to the field, but they helped offset the weirdness of the MTC.

If that whole "We are ashamed that the president is from Texas" comment happened today, the reaction would be completely different. There would be no reaction whatsoever. It probably wouldn't even be reported.

I don't hate the Dixie Chunks, but I hold them in disdain for their believing that I should care about their uninformed, ignorant opinions or their crappy music. Of course, my disdain for their smug, ignorant minds unfortunately has no impact upon the success of their music career, if it did, they'd be DOA.

I like country music, but I despise the Dixie Chicks. Not so much for the "ashamed of W" comments (though it didn't help matters with me), but simply because I'd rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than Natalie Maines sing. Musically, they're decent, but for some reason I just can't stand her voice.

As for the Dixie Chicks, I always hated them. But I decided I like them now after reading this thread. |
