I like the business model. I was somewhat familiar with the team's situation, but that well. It'd be nice to see the financials all around to see if this could be carried out to other collegiate sports.

Last time I checked in they were really struggling. Amazing now that they are champions.

I'm sure men's soccer is a money loser at BYU. I'm not sure how many schollies they offer, but if you add in schollie expense and travel, there's no way they recoup it in home ticket sales. I bet they don't bring in more than $10,000 per home game.

They do get some assistance. I'm not certain how it works out, but that's benefit of the system. We have three or four local kids on the team.

I'm not sure how they are currently, but I thought they had picked up a few sponsorships like Papa John's, but maybe that was lax. But I was thinking more along the lines of the league, because leagues are where teams generally make their money except for a few powerhouse exceptions.
But I guess my study would eventually result in pretty much what we have now of conferences and leagues, just without the school affiliation.
