Nothing new or exciting ever happens in General Conference
until it does happen.
I like getting rid of HP groups. It never made great sense to me to divide the men in the ward by age and leadership experience. In my ward we had a lot of older men who "graduated" into the HP Group w/o ever having been ordained as HPs. When I was EQ president, I didn't like this. I wanted to keep those people in the EQ. Thus ends another form of "hierarchy" in the church where the men are divided by "rank." |

Most exciting things were (1) A French historian of religion declaring we were the sect closest to New Testament Christianity, and (2) a non-white apostle and an non-American apostle.

End of PEC, beginning of young women doing ministering/visiting teaching. Non-white apostles.
Pretty clear that President Nelson hit the ground running. The idea of a bright, interesting talk from Uchtdorf as being the highlight now seems quaint. And silly almost. Those were the days... |
