Default Gotta love the Democrats

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/...006/index.html

Harry Reid is now claiming the Contract with America "didn't do anything" or have any effect on the '94 election.

Is he serious? What is even more amusing is that he is saying that at the same time Democrats are proposing their "Contract with America Lite," also known as Six for '06. If Contract with America didn't do anything, why are you essentially trying to do the same thing now? Shouldn't they come up with something else?

Typical. The Democrats have no leadership. They are a mess. No wonder they can't win elections.

Democrats need to get past the publicity of Contract With America and view it for what it actually was- an AGENDA. It was a PLAN for what Republicans would do if given power. And, surprise, Americans responded to that! The Democrats and their rudderless ship clearly do not understand that having a plan is a good idea, or that having a good plan is a great idea.

Are you saying that the Republicans have strong leadership?

I wouldn't go that far. I would say they have strong-er leadership. Say what you will, but the Republicans have spoken and acted as a group for most of the past 25 years. Democrats acted as a group under Clinton's leadership, but have otherwise splintered.

Lots of that is due to the fact that Democrats have a naturally splintered base to work with anyways and Republicans tend to come from fairly similar socio-economic backgrounds. That being said, I don't think anyone expected the total vacuum of leadership that exists on the left side of the aisle right now.

In your honest opinion, which group has stronger leadership? You may disagree with where the leadership of the right takes them, but I doubt you can say their leadership is weaker (or even close to as weak) as the Democrats.

No question that the democrats are struggling with their leadership. They have splintered off in different ways and they are fighting with how best to get a plan out there and give it to the people.

With that said, the Republicans are a mess as well. With the Iraq war, stem cell research and ethical issues...from evangelical/political Reed to DeLay to Frist going against Bush on stem cells, they don't know what they want either. It is going to be an interesting presidential election because there are so many unique and potentially polarizing candidates like Romney, Hillary and McCain.
