Good for them. I don't expect a sweet 16 run this time, but nice accomplishment to win the conference tourney and get into the field.

The female LDS talent pool for basketball is very small, I would guess. Seems like LDS girls with athletic talent are more likely to gravitate to soccer, volleyball, track/cross country and maybe even softball before basketball.

Maybe parents steer their girls away from basketball.
I have two religious non-Mormon friends who both played mens college basketball. They have only daughters, and both have steered their daughters away from basketball due to the perception that the culture of women's basketball is morally caustic. |
