BYU tied with Harvard re: admission/enrollment
Say what you will about BYU, it is a product that is in high demand.
http://www.usnews.com/articles/educa...ey-enroll.html From byu news: ================================================== ============ BYU RANKED NO. 1 IN U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT ADMISSIONS STUDY ================================================== ============ Brigham Young University is tied with Harvard as the no. 1 university in the country when it comes to admitted students who actually enroll, according to a new study in U.S. News & World Report. BYU and Harvard topped the national universities category; nearly 80 percent of the students admitted to BYU go on to enroll in the Provo university. Following BYU and Harvard were Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and MIT, respectively. The U.S. Military Academy had the highest yield among liberal arts colleges, followed by the U.S. Naval Academy, Thomas Aquinas College (Calif.), Berea College (Ky.), and Principia College (Ill.).

Maybe I do have a character flaw and enjoy throwing a fly in the ointment. (sp)
We aren't comparing Harvard and BYU academically because of this number are we? You can get accepted to Harvard and have some legitimate competitive offers. Stanford, Harvard, Yale, etc. You get accepted to BYU and want to attend for other compelling reasons not associated with academics. What comptetive alternatives are offered at any other colleges. I am quite frankly surprised that the number for BYU is only 80%. I thought the only reason the LDS good kids don't go to BYU is because they can't get in. |

I look at them and am reminded of when I go across the border to TJ and the vendors try with a straight face to sell me a velvet painting.

Yes, but there weren't trees there when I was there. They planted the saplings at the end of my last season.
I hit a few into those trees behind home plate too. Had a teammate who put one on the roof of the building behind right field. Looking at that photo brings back some good memories. I didn't much care for the politics on the campus, but I really did have some great fun there.
