I've noticed that my parents attend the temple more and more as they age.
Are elderly folks more likely to be temple workers just because they have more free time? Or does it have more to do with realization of their own mortality? Might it be an attempt to make recompense for sins before they meet their maker? |

My grandmother was raised LDS, but believed in all the New Age stuff (before the new age really got going). Healing crystals, drinking chlorophyll, meditation, UFO's, energy vortexes, smoking weed, etc. In 2001 she had a stroke, had to live in a wheelchair and re-learn to talk, and "suddenly" found LDS religion. At her funeral, everyone was really dramatic about how "they always come home." I was a little more cynical, though. She was just scared to die.
